Long considered a woman's oil, clary sage's benefits lie in its hormone balancing effects and calming influence on the body and mind.
Best ways to use Clary Sage Essential Oil:
- Direct Palm / Nasal Inhaler: Place a drop of oil in the palm of your hand, gently rub the hands together, cup your hands around your nose and take a deep breath in through the nose. You can also add several drops to nasal inhaler and breath in throughout the day. You can repeat multiple times though out the day (add bergamot for positive mood and rose geranium for hormone balance).
- Diffuser: Clary is great to add to a diffuser to promote positive mood (combine with bergamot, neroli and lavender for mood and ylang ylang and vetiver for aphrodisiac effects).
- Add directly to stomach to relieve menstrual cramping (combine with blue chamomile and rose geranium)
- Add to a base oil like sesame or sweet almond for a body or massage oil (for body oil great to combine with jasmin and ylang for massage)
Other oils it blends well with:
bergamot, frankincense, jasmine, lavender, neroli, pine, rose, rose geranium, vetiver, ylang
Fun facts: In the 1500’s clary sage was grown in Europe mostly for brewing beer and adding to wine. Clary sage (Salvia sclarea) is not to be confused with common garden sage (Salvia officinalis), sage brush (Artemisia tridentata) or white sage brush (Artemisia lodiviciana).
Cautions: known to be non-toxic, non-irritant and non- to mildly sensitizing.
