Epsom Salt
How is it made?
Epsom salt is manufactured from dolomite; a rock very similar to limestone but higher in magnesium.
What is it used for?
Epsom salt is most commonly used in baths where it is said to relieve muscle soreness, stiffness, promote circulation and relaxation. It can be used as a stand-alone ingredient in baths or it can be blended with other salt and/or essential oils for a truly exquisite experience. Unlike other salts, Epsom salt does not leave the skin feeling dry, but rather soft, smooth and silky. Rubbing the salt over your skin is great for exfoliating old dead skin cells.
Fun Facts
Epsom salt does not occur naturally; it has to be manufactured from a rock source.
Storage Considerations
Epsom salt stores easily, but keeps best if kept in an air-tight container and out of direct sunlight.
Safety Considerations
People with low blood pressure should seek medical advice before soaking with Epsom salt because it can cause a drop in blood pressure.
