Dendritic Salt
How is it made?
Dendritic salt is made from recrystallizing regular table salt, sodium chloride.
What is it used for?
When dendritic salt recrystallizes, it form with a much greater surface area than most other salts. Because of this, dendritic salt absorbs more essential oils, enhancing fragrance retention in salt scrubs and soaks. It also absorbs water more readily than other salts and helps reduce clumping when used in about 5% of preparations.
Fun Facts
Dendritic salt forms delicate star patterns when recrystallized.
Storage Considerations
Dendritic salt stores easily, but keeps best if kept in an air-tight container and out of direct sunlight.
Safety Considerations
People with low blood pressure should seek medical advice before soaking with salts because it can cause a drop in blood pressure.
